We are seeing reports today of registered Democrats in FL and AK receiving emails claiming to be from the Proud Boys and threatening violence if they did not vote for Trump. This has all the hallmarks of an active measures campaign. https://twitter.com/WUFTNews/status/1318653915181842434
These emails are under investigation by the FBI. While attempting to threaten or intimidate voters is a federal crime, at this time there is no evidence to believe in the legitimacy of these threats. Your vote is confidential and not constrained by registered party affiliation.
According to @VICE the Proud Boys have distanced themselves from these emails and claim that they are a false flag campaign. Whether or not the Proud Boys sent them, the goal is clear: to deter people from exercising their right to vote. https://www.vice.com/en/article/88a43b/proud-boys-emails-threatening-florida-voters-appear-to-use-spoofed-email-address
What makes an active measures campaign successful and dangerous, is when the response from the media and members of the public amplify the message, resulting in unfounded fear that disenfranchises voters.

We’ve seen this several times today, and are likely to see it again. We urge media and social media commentators to be cautious in what they choose to amplify. Otherwise, they run the risk of playing into goals of voter suppression. Read more here: https://www.eipartnership.net/rapid-response/army-of-trump
