I spent this past weekend doing continuing education credits for my chiropractic license.

We’re required to do 12 credits a year and I am one who looks forward to learning new material and getting a refresher on old stuff.
I’m extremely proud to be a Doctor Of Chiropractic. The 4 years of school was extremely tough.

When I was in grade school my 8th grade teacher told my father that I’d never amount to much and probably end up dead or in jail.
Well, my father told him to go fuck himself and told my not to listen to that garbage.

The day I graduated Chiro school I took a pic with my dad and he put his arm around me with a huge smile on his face.
When I went to walk away he put his arm tighter around me so I couldn’t walk away. He didn’t say anything but his actions spoke volumes.

He was able to tell all his friends from the neighborhood that his son was a Dr knowing most of their sons actually wound up dead or in jail.
My dad never wanted me to be in the restaurant. He didn’t want that life for me. He wanted me to go out on my own and make my own way in the world.

Fast forward 20 years and I’m grateful to be able to serve my patients in my Chiro practice and serve our guests in the restaurant.
I’m also grateful my 8th grade teacher was wrong.

The truth is this, I honor my fathers Legacy every time I walk into my chiropractic office, not into our restaurant.

That’s what he wanted and that’s what I’ll always do.
The lesson here is don’t let your eight grade teacher or anyone else define you.

Keep moving forward and always honor the sacrifices of the people that came before you.
