BREAKING DOWN CHRIS PRATT AND THE HOMOPHOBIC CHURCH, a thread; (please retweet!)

In the last couple of days, its become apparent many of you seem to think Chris Pratt is homophobic, and endorses a homophobic church. That could not be further from the truth. 1/6

In 2015, Carl Lentz (executive of Hillsong Church’s New York branch) and Brian Houston (a pastor) faced very deserved backlash for making multiple homophobic comments and labelling homophobia a sin, saying the LGBT community were not welcome. 2/6

In 2019, Chris Pratt appeared on a talk show in which he discussed how his church, Hillsong’s LA branch, helped him deal with the pressures of fame.

Ellen Page then called Pratt out for not mentioning Lentz’s (and by extension, the church’s) homophobia and anti-LGBT stance. 3/6

Pratt responded on Instagram, in which he explained “i go to a church that opens their doors to absolutely anyone.”

He also pointed out that he wasn’t some representative of the church, and “no church defines my life, & i am not a spokesperson for any church or group of people.”

Pratt went on to make his stance on the LGBT+ community clear, stating;

“My values define who i am. I am a man who believes everyone is entitled to love who they want free from the judgement of their fellow man.”

Please retweet this! Too many people have this misconception of Pratt that could be very harmful to him and his career if it gets out of hand. I mean this shit was trending on twitter.

He is not homophobic, nor does he endorse the actions of those against the LGBT community. 6/6
