I’m going to break down everything wrong with this article in a thread. It might seem petty, but it’s not, and that’s because this is actually an extremely harmful article for orthodox Jewish women and women who follow tzniut.

(thread)
In the opening paragraphs of the article, the author is introducing Abby and while it’s okay to have a biased opinion for Abby, it’s already clear that we aren’t going to get an honest article here. And while Abby is the sister of Ben Shapiro, it really shouldn’t be relevant.
The third paragraph is where we really start to get to problem areas

The author sets a scene where it’s clear people are describing Abby as Jewish and saying she’s a conservative YouTuber that is set apart from others because she’s Jewish.

The author sets this as a negative.
The author then goes on to say how Abby is challenging the Christian narrative of conservative blogging and also when talking about traditional values, modesty, or aka tzniut.

This is, again, made to be a mark against Abby.
how’s any of this negative? And that’s where the author brings in the idea that Abby’s use of tzniut is actually a Trojan Horse for alt-right ideas.

But the “alt-right” idea is just a normal views on modesty.

Heteronormative? Yes. Alt-right? No.
Abby does not have to talk about whatever dichotomy the author is talking about. Abby is also not placing herself in any authority position at all, she’s simply sharing her life and views.
The author says they can spot the bad things easier because they aren’t the targeted audience, but have they considered they’re spotting things they just don’t agree with?
