Bee tee dubs, the idea of pink for girls and blue for boys is a relatively new thing.

As is gendering babies.

Used to be that it was weird to identify a baby's/toddler's gender.

And boys wore petticoats (but then the gender stuff was pretty heavily enforced).

^^^^ This is also in a Western/White/Christian context, which even in its rigidity has plenty of stories of "gender norms" being broken.

Gender and how it is shown throughout different cultures varies. But I don't know enough to speak on those things.
