THE GREATER STORY BEHIND KENDRICK LAMAR’S ALBUMS.
For this post I want to show how Kendrick Lamar’s albums are tied together and all fit a bigger story. Each album sees Kendrick fit a new persona and age, as well as change like all normal humans do. Inspired by a user on Reddit. IYK please give me the name so I can credit.
Section .80: On this album Kendrick is a teen and is figuring himself out. He’s starting to learn about the world around him and he puts his thoughts and daily life in a record.
GKMC: This album takes place a couple years later, Kendrick has gotten into the life that his friends feared he’d get into. This whole album shows a day in the life of that process and how Kendrick (Continued...)
Got into a van with his homies, hoping to meet Sherane that night only to take part in a break in and witness the death of one of his friends. This album blows up and Kendrick reaches the fame he always wanted.
TPAB: A few years into his fame, Kendrick deals with the dark side of fame and money. He also deals with survivors guilt and depression. He’s now having to deal with the “devil” and has to decide if he’s going to give up his soul for everything he wanted.
DAMN.: Now after dealing with fame, Kendrick realizes he can’t change the world without changing himself. This whole album is a look at himself and his struggle between choosing fame or god.
