Here is a quick tale of very local media, a veteran columnist, and a single commenter all mixed up in a web of takes, falsified identity, deceit, gullibility, credibility, and confusion…
Using the name "Phil Longo," someone posted a comment below Art Chanksy's UNC-FSU postgame column on http://Chapelboro.com .

Phil Longo is of course the name of UNC’s offensive coordinator.

The column is here: https://chapelboro.com/sports/arts-angle/arts-angle-what-might-have-been

The comment is here:
In Chansky’s Monday column, Art referenced the comment made by "Longo," thinking it was actually UNC OC Phil Longo who made the comment.

Of course, the real Phil Longo did not make that comment. It would be silly to think that the offensive coordinator of North Carolina's football program would head to a local Chapel Hill/Carrboro website and comment on a postgame column.

But here we are.
It gets sillier.

I can confirm through a source that the email account used to comment on the original column is not associated with the real Phil Longo. In fact, the email address connected to that comment is "[email protected]

You can’t make that up.
And now on Tuesday, this has been added to the top of Chansky's second column:

“Editor’s Note: The comment referenced in this column and credited to Phil Longo were made by a reader with the username ‘Phil Longo.’ The identity of the commenter has not been confirmed”
Just classic internet stuff.
Or maybe Chansky is trolling us all...
