Things that I thought were normal about me, that actually turned out to be autism. A thread

Being somebody completely different in public compared to at home in private.
Being exhausted from socialising constantly.
Finding commuting challenging
Either leaving parties early or hanging around on the edges of social groups.
Learning how to socialise rather than it coming naturally
Being labelled as quiet, shy or hard working.
Enjoying doing activities solo than groups, e.g. travelling and exercise.
Finding it challenging to use verbal communication to describe emotions.
Seeking out adrenaline, e.g. Roller coaster, spinning, jumping on a trampoline and swings.
Finding it difficult to fall asleep.
Finding completing household tasks impossible but able to write an essay with ease.
Assuming my low level of self-esteem was ”normal”
Preferring solo play as a child
Using alcohol to manage the social demands of a ’night out’
Fidgeting to maintain my levels of concentration.
Going non-verbal in times of distress
Feeling relieved in solitude at the end of the day.
I'm sure there are more, so I'll add them to this thread when I think of them.
