Ok, I retweeted this as a feel good thing but now strap in for a rant re: how everyone seems to be reacting to it. https://twitter.com/wrathofgnon/status/1318034279385899008
Ok, sure, maybe it is better (and traditional) to live in family groups.

But the answer is that people DON’T. That’s not how modern society works.

You can argue it’s not ideal all you want but that doesn’t change reality.
If you care about the elderly, if you care about children, and if you care about societal health, the response to this should not be sneering “but this other more radical change is better and it’s stupid we’re even quantifying this.”

It is a step in the right direction.
What is easier?

Convincing an entire society to completely upend itself to become like a society that few of its occupants even remember?

Or adding things in increments to fit into the structure that already exists?
Sometimes Russell has to bop me on the head and say:

“What do you want, Morgon? Do you want it to ‘feel’ right or do you want to get the results you want?”
One of the biggest issues with the various Trad movements (of which I agree with/am a part of) is that many of the adherents expect a wholesale change immediately or it is not enough.
The perfect is the enemy of the good.

Should families be living together? Perhaps. (I have things to say on this)

Is it going to be easy to mass convert people to that idea? No.
Is it better for the elderly and children to implement something like this? Yes.

Will it improve society? Yes.

Will it move public opinion towards the end goal you want? Yes.
This never even occurs to the vast majority of people because they didn’t grow up this way. Our society is super age segregated.

Show them it can work. Convince them it’s a good idea.

And this is not responding or subtweeting anyone in particular. It’s commentary on the wide reaction to it that is coming across my feed.
