an actual thread on the use of AAVE or BEV. (with articles and examples)
if you're unaware, AAVE is an acronym for African American Vernacular English.

Some other terms people recognize include:

• African American Varieties of English or African American English (AAE)
• Black English (BE)
• Black English Vernacular (BEV).
many people often think of AAVE as "bad english" or "ghetto talk" (or a "blaccent" to others,,,) but they don't seem to understand the cultural importance these words and phrases hold to those who are black.
let me just say that if you're not black, don't fucking use these words or phrases. if you were genuinely of anything that's going to be said in this thread, that's okay. just take this knowledge with you as you go through life. and please do not come up with justification for+
+why you "should be able" to use it if you're non-black. 🙂

the rest of this thread will be links and articles bc i really can't stress myself out with this any more. i'm really upset that our culture as black people is being turned into a normal thing for everyone.
while wanting to embrace culture is fine, using a part of someone else's culture and trying to brand it as your own is not okay.

if there's anything that anyone would like to add or correct (if you're non-black you're not welcomed to say anything), please let me know. i'm just really upset and a lot of help would be appreciated. qrts will definitely help a lot since it can make things known.
don't be silent about this, please.
