#landlordsarescum I live in a 2 family home. I share a 3 bedroom with my wife and child in one room and 2 roommates in another. I have 2 neighbors who share the rent on a 2 bedroom upstairs. One of the folks upstairs lost their job to Covid the other works sporadically.

Immediately after payments stopped coming in for one of them. (The one still working was paying his portion on time) they begin to get harrassed about the possibility of eviction in April. Both verbally and through text! When told that there were govt benefits for small

Landlords the landlord told us she cant qualify because she "has no proof tenants aren't paying their rent" put a pin in that.

Things get worse. The landlord gets more belligerent demands that if they cant pay rent to respond to her and they could work out a deal to "work off" 3 months backrent. The amount of value she was "giving" was to little and she did not have enough work given the rate.

Fast forward to last month. I recieved an email that I was cc'd on addressed to the neighbors and it goes a little something like this.

And now this month

Instead answering the question or saying we're not privy to that info she goes on an incoherent rant! While informing us shes sending a realtor to look at the house to list it because ONE apt cant pay the rent!

Objectively speaking what the fuck is the point of paying rent if I can lose my home because ONE household in the llc doesnt pay? My home has paid in full ON TIME til now!

Ideologically speaking how dare this piece of dogshit threaten to throw ANYONE out on the street during a goddam pandemic while whining that it's hard on THEM! MY NEIGHBORS HAVE BEEN LIVING IN OFF RAMEN NOODLES FOR MONTHS!!

If you've read this far thank you! If you feel ANY desire to help please help me find out how to determine if a landlord has recieved rent relief in NJ. We have formed a tenants association and are reaching out to others with the same douchebag landlord.

If she has recieved relief and is pulling this shit then we can legally hang her by her toes! Please comrades I really need the help! I'll be fine if we get kicked out but my neighbors will have no where to go but the street!

UPDATES: The LL made good on her threat to have a realtor contact us. Each of us has recieved at least 2 texts requesting access to our home. Then of course "asserting" that she will just come in. Cus you no reply=consent right?

I sent this email reply requesting that no one we dont know be able to come to our home during the pandemic. Signed by all of us and Instructed upstairs to do the same.

We did ultimately get an OFFICIAL notice from the llc saying that the realtor has permission from the landlord to steamroll over our collective concerns regarding COVID and come inspect the house anyway.

In brighter news we were able to canvass a house today and I say one because we started late and we only talked to one person and it was a great talk and she has volunteered to join our tenants association!! Just a few more houses to visit tomorrow! Wish me luck!

A new update. I didnt do this yesterday because, well honestly I'm pretty scared. I stood up the landlords lackey realtor and with the help of a couple of comrades from the New Brunswick Tenants Union we were able to prevent her from entering our home!

She was not kind to us. A comrade and I stayed out front if the house waiting for her to arrive at the appointed time hoping she took this text from us seriously which we each individually sent

She did. Afterward we went up to meet her and she proceeded to persuade me to allow her to enter my home. Using familiar phrases like holding the home "hostage" and that the landlords right to her property "trumps" (oh sweet irony..) my rights

She demanded that I at least allow her to take a picture of the outside of the house and after thinking about a moment I allowed it without protest knowing full well what it was going to amount to.. which can be seen in this image.

I'm gonna make a note here. I do feel justified in my right to defend my housemates and my family, I am scared for what may happen regardless. But this it here folks. This is class war. Review everything thus far.

The sins we've committed was standing up to an oppressor and "forcing the hand" whatever the fuck that means. We want to stay housed during the pandemic and I dont want my neighbors lives ruined by this petulant child of a LL. Her interest comes before our lives.

Anyway I'll keep updating as news comes in shes been quiet today but I'm expecting more tomorrow.. wish us luck..

I was on the phone all day trying plan and get advice for what to do.. I was not able to get the advice I need and itll be difficult to get volunteers to come here to help otherwise. She is to win this battle.. and come in with the realtor.

I'm anxious, didn't eat all day and as you can see, can't sleep.. some solace I take in all of this how goddam petty this landlord is! Omg! Like seriously does she look at these novels she sends us and think to herself "omg this is soo good! Those silly tenants will get it noww"

Jokes aside. I'm exhausted I havent been able to do my stuff to make the money nor has my wife. It has been my full time job putting out fires this child keeps setting. I can't wait to get tomorrow over with..

So yesterday was a doozy. The LL showed up with the realtor. I let them in this time. I had access to my lawyer on the phone for the time but decided to give them the win yesterday by letting them in. We haven't finished what we need to do in time for the TA.

The LL tried to pull me aside to talk about stuff and I told her I wasn't interested in that discussion. I was furious the whole time. After their walkthrough they both went over how they were gonna do their best to not have showings of the house more than 3 times a week.

My neighbor not being comfortable being comfortable being near the landlord for health and general stress reasons went to his car to stay out of the way. After the LL was done with her WT she felt it necessary to again push past any concern of comfort or disease by approaching

him anyway.

She then came to knock on my door again to tell me what she told him. Which was that if they sent her a letter promising to be moved out by the end of the lease date (Nov. 13th) That she would stop attempting to sell the house and honor the rest of my lease.

In other words if they promise to GTFO they'll stop pressuring my family, roommates, and I by selling the house out from underneath all of us. I asked her about what she planned to do with their backrent. She told me "we're human too." and that they promise that if the upstairs

sends that letter of promise to GTFO in a weeks time she'll also forgive $100 off of their backrent per month. they're in the hole rn for over $5000!!

While it sucked to let this horrible jerk into my house against my will, we got some good tactical info and have a clearer path on where to go from here. Good progress happening on TA! Building serious momentum!!
