I watched 9 epis of Lovecraft Country and all of Watchmen, and I have a lot of thoughts that I don't know what to do with when it comes to Black trauma and storytelling for entertainment.
I feel like there is a line but where?
I feel like truths need to be told but the trauma.

I think overall we need way more Black joy. If we had more Black joy shows (and not written by Barris) I would feel completely different.
But we don't so I have conflicted thoughts.

And I think the thing for me is that I lived during a time where we had multiple Black joy shows. And then we only had Roots and Color Purple.
I feel like there is an overcorrection?
I don't know.

I don't know.
I should note I watched LCC and Watchmen back to back. So even the differences in how trauma was told and handled was widely different.
And I am legit annoyed more folks aren't saying how badly written Jig-a-bobo was. It was just badly written.

And I really find it annoying that I listened to more than one podcast and the defense of how that epi was written is that "Many people haven't humanized Emmett Till."
I just want to scream WHO?
His humanity was always why what happened to him was unspeakable.

But really I don't know and I'm looking for this thinkpiece and it's nowhere to be found. Or at least, it hasn't crossed my TL.
