We're redoing our kitchen!! It's been a long time coming, but very necessary to solve some pain points we've been living with for the last six-seven years:
1. No pantry. (wtf, why did they build it this way?)
2. Super greasy! The above-range vent cannot handle our cooking.
3. Not enough counter space for two people moving around the kitchen while cooking. We prepare meals together, so we're always in each other's way.
4. The breakfast nook we don't use. It's a lost area in the house that we intend to reclaim.
A little background. Our house was a 50s build of very small size that was popped back and up around 2000 to make more room. They redid the kitchen at that time, but some of the choices (no pantry) were super strange. Also, their color palate was BROWN BROWN BROWN.
Here's our current kitchen. Very cluttered due to lack of storage, not enough light. Our pantry is that sexy rack. We got an island from Ikea that helped with prep work, but it's a roadblock.
I'll also point out the entirely useless area at the window where we currently have plants. Not a useable working space at all. We're move the window up and reclaim it!!
Now the fun stuff! Here are the renders provided by our remodeler.
Items of note:
1. Sink moves below the window.
2. Pantry area to the left, tons of storage, making use of that breakfast nook area (which I have more future plans for).
3. Hood over the range!
4. Microwave out of eye height.
5. Storage storage storage!!
Our new color palette. The white for cabinets and the brown for the shelves next to the pantry and as an accent in the cabinets with glass doors. This space will be so bright and happy!
We haven't fully chosen our countertops or wall tile yet. The countertops are dependent on getting the right size granite. We've got two contenders. I've color corrected as best I can for dim/yellow.
I'll keep adding to this thread as it goes on. We found a really cool/beautiful faucet that will match our cabinet handles and have decided on our sink, but I'm resistant to just posting a bunch of links. PHOTOS ONLY!
