As expected there’s been lots of “clergy should stay out of politics” since yesterday.

Christians and people of all faiths take part in the national debate. This is democracy and freedom. I have seen the opposite. Treasure what we have.

Jesus cared about how political decisions affect people: so the Church cares too. You may agree or disagree with us - as much as we disagree among ourselves. But we're following the example and teaching of Jesus.

I hope and pray that, as a society, we can celebrate honest public debate - where all voices are welcomed, and we recommit to working together, despite our differences, for the common good.
