Slightly Husky Limited Co. is a Black owned and operated lifestyle brand based in Atlanta, Georgia. As a Black owned brand based in the South, we are compelled to represent the people and places often forgotten or overlooked. Slightly Husky prides ourselves on being an underdog
brand and we aim to represent the regular & real.

As we prepared for Slightly Husky’s first product drop, we were compelled not to just carry on with business as usual in 2020. This year we’ve seen a long overdue racial reckoning that forced the country to acknowledge systemic
racism in all of our institutions, particularly within policing and the criminal legal system. We wouldn’t be Slightly Husky if we did not have our first products reflect and contribute to this moment that we’re living in.
Thus, we came up with the phrase, “A Movement is a Terrible Thing to Waste,” as the theme of this first product drop.

We aim to make products with a purpose, and for this line we needed these products to serve a purpose much bigger than ourselves.
We have partnered with @mgmbailout, a community bail fund based in Montgomery, Alabama. MGM Bail Out is doing great work bringing people home who are sitting in jail during the pandemic. Many people in Montgomery jails are held simply because they cannot afford the cost of
their bail. Being able to be released pretrial can impact sentencing – if released before trial, an individual has greater freedom to assist their legal team and can make a better case to the judge why they should continue to be allowed to stay out of jail.
Being held in jail, even if only for 24 hours, can put people at risk of losing their jobs and even their homes.

The Bail Out is free -- the funding comes from donors and all staff are volunteers. Further, the Montgomery Bail Out is a revolving fund;
when the folks they bail out appear in court and bond is refunded, that money is returned to the Bail Out fund and used to free someone else. There is no cost, at any time, to apply for or receive Bail Out funds.
MGM Bail Out centers anti-racism in their work, because we know that bail amounts are often set higher for Black, Indigenous, and people of color, than for white people facing the same charges. The Bail Out’s vision is to be accountable to those who are the most impacted.
And to do that, we must fight to abolish the violent systems that are wreaking havoc on people’s lives. That’s getting rid of cash bail, getting rid of pretrial detention, and getting rid of jails, period.
Too often people in places like Montgomery, Alabama are overlooked. These are our neighbors, only a couple hours away, and we want to highlight and support the good work that is being done in Montgomery. @mgmbailout is not just bailing people out,
but advocating against the inherent injustice that is the cash bail system.

We are proud to announce the limited release, “A Movement is a Terrible Thing to Waste” tee and notNuetral Coffee Mug. These are Slightly Husky’s humble contributions to this moment and movement.
