Live from @WI_Elections meeting, starting with 5500 unreadable Outagamie County ballots due to a printing error:

Commission is debating their authority vs circuit court litigation and the timely issue of remaking ballots on ED vs using sharpie to fill in printing scratch.
All commissioners seem to agree that recommending litigation to allow filling in the original printing scratch to preserve the voters’ intent is less time consuming than remaking ballots.

Neither of these processes can happen before Election Day per Wisconsin statute.
With this guidance for Outagamie County, the commission will also recommend this without extension of deadline, because Commissioner Knudson said he wants to keep Wisconsin out of the national spotlight for election results.

Idk if we can avoid that at this point, but ok
This motion is tabled to discuss exact diction later.

On to “election night results”
As it stands, municipalities with a central count are not required to wait on absentee numbers from central count in order to submit unofficial results from polling places.

Concern is that absentee numbers alone could change what‘s forecasted as a v close presidential race
Also as of now, the final deadline for canvas certification process (ballots to be counted) in Wisconsin is Dec 1. That’s when state certifies results and starts nationwide election process.
