Jesse Marsch on Gerhard Struber and #RBNY
Been thinking a lot about some worlds that keep being repeated over the past several weeks after #RBNY made their coaching change. I’ve become more aware of them the more I listen to Bradley Carnell’s conferences (pre & post-match) as well as interviews.
Some of the words popped when I heard Jesse Marsch repeat the same in his various interviews (Sirius XM, ETR) echoing what Bradley Carnell had been touching upon in his media briefings. Words like ‘Red Bull philosophy’ or ‘our way’ or ‘plays our way’.
In his recent ETR talk, I think Jesse lays out clearly what a Red Bull philosophy player is. The use of the term ‘rule breakers’ is very illuminating here
Jesse uses Brendan Aaronson to describe what the ‘rule breaker’ Red Bull philosophy player does
Here Jesse contrasts how a ‘rule breaker’ in the Red Bull system compares to a conventional soccer player
Bradley Carnell has also talked about all-rounders over the past several weeks. He seems to like guys like Flo, Stroud, Egbo that are multidimensional and can seemingly play multiple positions with ease. Jesse touches on this using Tyler Adams and Brendan Aaronson as examples
All this has me really excited for the arrival of Gerhard Struber at #RBNY . Jesse Marsch has, in his various media talks, described him as being strict about the Red Bull philosophy. Looking forward to @harmonmt’s interview dropping soon.
Exciting times to be a fan of EDS!
