Just looking at my Canes number spreadsheet and it's still a little weird that they only have one single-digit player (4 - Fleury) with 5-8 all available. Fast taking 71 still leaves 15 as the only available 10-19 available. Second half of the 20s are also available.
Also available - 68

just sayin
(I mean technically Cade Webber was assigned 68 last season, but if a certain former Ottawa/Florida forward were to want it, I think it could be arranged)
Players who still need numbers: Stelio Mattheos (was 51 previously in camp, wasn't in camp last season), Jason Cotton, Dominik Bokk, Tuukka Tieksola, Kirill Slepets, Massimo Rizzo, and the 2020 draft guys
The Canes generally try to make provisions for first round picks to get their preferred numbers, but Jarvis wears 24, which Jake Bean has worn since he was drafted (at least at the NHL level). Bean prefers 2 (unavailable) but might switch to an available single digit.
Bokk (78) and Ponomarev (92) have high, unassigned numbers (well, Lorentz has 78 but might get a new number now that he's sticking around) that they might keep going into camp. Noel Gunler wore 8 (which is available) but might be a little unusual for a 2nd rounder to get a low #
Also a curveball this season - no Skip Cunningham. I believe Skip assigned the player numbers (or at least had a large say) and seemed to have a particular method with protecting certain numbers and assigning others. Will that change this season?
