If you’re not measuring performance with an exercise, can you really ever argue its effectiveness? In my opinion, no. This is why it’s so important to track medicine ball throw speed/distance, bar speed, etc.- to actually see how X Improves when speed improves in X exercises.
Let’s say you think heavy squatting helps athletes jump higher. Cool! Go prove it. See how a program that increases squat weight/bar speeds matches up with any increases you find in jump height. See which athletes profile as responding better to certain styles of training best.
Not everything in training can be quantified. But there’s A LOT of impactful training methods that can- and it’s cool to disagree on stuff. Having actual numbers behind your argument makes it much more useful for everyone you hope will read it.
Twitter arguments can be a huge waste of time or they can be of actual help for people. Hopefully this thread will help some folks become a bit more proactive/constructive for what they’re ready to argue about.
