I believe that, sometimes, until you're removed from the American Christian (AC) perspective and exposed to other cultures, religions, and Christians from other cultures...
it's nearly impossible to see how much and where our American perspective has truly affected our view of the Bible.
I'll be honest, it's been hard to be back and see how patriotism and nationalism have shaped American Christianity.
AC doesn't truly want separation of church and state which is why prolife is so central to their platform. But what I really don't understand is how Healthcare for all is bad? Taking care of people's basic needs is incredibly Biblical. What hc for all is not, is American.
We've fallen into a deep trap of thinking that these American principals are Christian principals because that is what the political parties and American politics have convinced us of.
Idk. I have so many thoughts on this and struggle to articulate them.
I legitimately want to know a solid biblical argument for not providing for people's basic needs, like Healthcare.
And "thats the church's job" is not a functional argument because the church isn't doing it and you're not separating the church from your other political beliefs.
