The thing about Trump’s appeal among Latino and Black men is that it’s runoff from his appeal to men overall. Machismo isn’t an exotic trait from Latin America; we just call it something else in English. It’s all part of the same phenomenon.
We all live with the internal conflicts between class, race, ethnicity, gender, romantic orientation, age, education, faith, etc. We have to understand these traits as a part of a whole person. For some, gendered appeals are the most effective.
And our stories should reflect this. If you are writing a story about Trump’s appeal to men, your story should mention Black and Latino men. That is not a wholly separate story.
