Shaving 101⚡️: I am not a fan of shaving but you have to do it if you're having laser & it is also the most inexpensive option, so here are a few tips
1. Exfoliation✨ I know many of you do not realise that shaving is a form of exfoliation and therefore it is important to support your skin barrier with plenty of hydration and skin barrier supporting ceramides ( @cerave moisturiser)!
2. Invest in a good razor, I alternate between disposable razors ( Wilkinson sword for men) or my recent purchase from @heyestrid I got the pink one🥰
3. I know they say to shave in the direction of hair growth but my hair hates this, best advice is to learn your hair. My hair does not like to be shaved in a downwards motion so it's always upwards against my hair growth🌟
4. Physical exfoliation! I exfoliate with my Korean wash cloth before shaving (not for face) and make sure to do this with warm water and a good shower gel (I use Sanex 0%, put your shower gel inside the Korean wash cloth)
5. Time to shave: if I am shaving my face before laser I use my deviant skincare cleansing oil for lubrication, for other parts of my body I use the @KiehlsUKI Oil-to-Foam, the more affordable option is the @EucerinUS shower oil. I always shave in a warm running shower.
6. I then follow up with the @cerave SA Cream and CeraVe healing ointment. Salicylic acid is great for ingrown hair prevention. I have moved away from pfb vanish because of the peeling, if I use pfb vanish now I apply a moisturiser before hand
7. For hyperpigmentation I would use either p50, PSAskin heroin, the ordinary mandelic acid, mandelibright instead of the SA cream & follow up with a regular moisturiser⚡️
8. In addition to chemical exfoliants I use garden of wisdom alpha Arbutin + Kojic acid & @mytopicals fade.
9. A few of my shaving don’ts: Never use a blunt razor, only shave when you have enough time to follow up with care, do not shave with cold water, avoid using deodorant after shaving & use a chemical exfoliant instead🥰
10. Laser, I am not telling you to get laser for your hair removal choice but rather as a management for ingrown hairs. You could get laser a couple of times a year about 3 times. Happy shaving friends✨
