imagine spending your whole life thinking you have to be one way then breaking your engagement and coming to a small town and going into business with a man who you’re immediately charmed by and you hike and hike and realize you’re gay and like him and work up the courage to ask-

him out on a date on his birthday and then he says yes so you get flustered and over-spritz some plants and so you go home and carefully frame and wrap the first receipt from the store both of you run together that you saved from the opening and you put it in a blue gift bag and-

dress up for a birthday dinner at the cafe in your blue blazer and light blue button up shirt that matches the gift because you want to look good for your first date with the man you like so much and you’re nervous but so so so brave so then you go to the cafe early and sit down-

and wait for this beautiful man to arrive and when he does you get the biggest smile on your face and start flirting until you realize oh no oh fuck he invited his best friend so run to the bathroom and panic about how this isn’t a date what was i thinking it’s fine play it cool-

so you take a deep breath and get back out there and the best friend has pulled out your gift that shows how much you’re really into this so you reluctantly let them open it and he says ‘this is not nothing’ with the softest look and then you think maybe all hope isn’t lost when-

the mozzarella sticks are on the table and the best friend leaves and it’s just the two of you and it’s a date it’s your first date with a man and you had a wonderful time so at the end of the night you drive him home and with every second that passes you think about kissing him-

but then you’re at the motel the date is over and you’re a little disappointed that even though you were so brave to ask your business partner out on a date you can’t bring yourself to kiss him and you want it so much but you still had a good time so you flirt some more and then-

he kisses you, and it feels like your first time and it feels right, so you thank him and tell him you’ve never done that with a guy and he just smiles and takes it into stride and you want to kiss him forever but you softly say goodnight go home and lie awake thinking about him-

and you don’t know it yet but he’s the love of your life and you’re going to get married and start a life in a cozy cottage you wanted to surprise him with that reminds him of a romcom which is sappy as fuck but love makes you soft and you spend the rest of your lives together
