This somewhat applies to Berserk and Vagabond though I’ve always enjoyed vagabond more I can easily see how one would like Berserk more. Berserk is essentially perfect with some of the greatest peaks in manga. Within Vagabond I personally think it’s perfect and every arc is a 10. https://twitter.com/jaegerpath/status/1318536319702831104
But I can that’s a personal bias I have due to my attachment to the characters especially Musashi. Berserk on a technical level achieves more since its plot has more scope so I can achieve more with its plot whereas vagabond is a more quiet story (with amazing peaks ofc)
but not of the nature and grandness of berserk. Overall this is basically an objectivity vs subjectivity question though subjectivity always wins since I’m a human and I build emotional connections to work. Though the technical perfection of a work makes it have a higher chance
of being a favourite. I also dislike using the word objective since I think with media the quality is decided on the interpreter since you can’t scale art, something can be more technically advanced but it doesn’t mean it’s better. Though there is obvious garbage work but this
is usually stuff that is painfully generic with an uninspired vision. I think when looking at art that’s commonly regarded as great it’s impossible to decide what is the best without being subjective. It’s all down to personal preference at the end of the day.
Overall these types of questions are hard for me to answer and I end up going on tangents. I rewrote this thread 3 times and went on a tangent each time, I hope I got my point across though. lmao thanks for reading.
