My wife just showed up to vote here in Texas with a valid, out-of-state drivers license (something a lot of recent Texas immigrants have) *and* her Texas voter registration card yet was denied the right to vote. She’s on her way home now to get her passport so she can vote.
I just checked my wife’s drivers license to make sure it is REAL ID compliant, and it is. It is insane how hard Texans have to work to exercise their right to vote, and I’m thankful for all of the Texans who have already done so this year.
As a reminder, the leadership here in Texas wants as few people to vote as possible and has designed a system to make sure that’s the case: https://twitter.com/texastribune/status/1318190274762465281
UPDATE: Another college-educated suburban woman just successfully cast her ballot, on the second try and carrying her passport.
