Soul Eater is a unique story, very stylish, with impeccable art, fantastic designs and many details, in addition to a super dynamic and entertaining cast of characters that manages to bring out the true Soul and the best of the battle shonen.
The tone and aesthetics of Soul Eater are very distinctive, quite comical, occasionally badass and with some very interesting approaches to philosophy that help to hold a plot that is certainly not the focus of this manga.
If something makes Soul Eater so special it is how it is a very good execution of the style over substance but with a very strong cast, of which it is impossible not to be fond and worry about them much more than anything else in this manga.
Artistically it has been one of the mangas that I have fallen in love with the fastest, the designs, the backgrounds, and the paneling is absolutely top tier. The fights can be followed very easily and are incredibly impressive; the amount of detail is gigantic.
The colour pages are original, very varied, as are the covers, and they even manage to take advantage of the excellent designs of the manga. Sincerely, at an artistic level I can't say anything I didn't like about this manga, it simply did everything well with its own style.
As I mentioned, one thing that makes Soul Eater literally so soulful is its cast of characters, already well known and loved by the community, so I'd like to talk a little more about the less popular ones that I personally have liked.
Black Star is my favourite Soul Eater character without a doubt, from the very first moment his aspiration to surpass the Gods is something that caught my attention. Arrogant and immature, very heavy but also very ambitious, he finds it difficult to cooperate and worry about the
others.
Gradually he matures and progresses. Soul Eater is a story focused on personal development and having characters like Black Star so obsessed in themselves and in their aspirations, forgetting about the rest of the world, realizing that perhaps it is better to stop being
so stubborn and open up to friendship and empathy is a better way is something I always like to see when it is correctly executed.
To be kind and generous to others is all fine, but to be afraid of it is a terrible thing.
Crona is another excellent Soul Eater character and my second favourite in the manga.
Crona has many problems relating to others. They are very introverted, pessimistic and unstable. Nervous and negative, just one positive thought can pass through his mind and if it does,
it will turn into a thousand negative thoughts.
Finding a goal in life and learning to receive the love and friendship of people is something fundamental for me, and the path that Crona takes to leave behind all their problems seems beautiful to me.
I could go on talking about the various characters Soul Eater has and how much I love its dynamics, like Maka with Soul and Death the Kid with Patricia or Elizabeth, how good antagonist I think Medusa is and how great I think the whole story is crafted but I don't like very much
to say a lot on Twitter threads. But basically it has been one of the most entertaining and complete experiences I've had reading manga, so I can only recommend it.
