This is obviously a pivotal moment in history of Sudan & ushering of a new era towards a stable nation after decades of sanctions & deadly civil wars. Sudanese people need @Twitter help to promote healthy dialogue & conversations as part of state building into pluralistic society
To achieve this @Twitter can do a few things
* Enable #TwitterPhoneVerificationSudan meaning users in Sudan can use their local phone numbers to verify their accounts as part of the security features available to most users around the world.
* Enable #TwitterPhoneVerificationSudan meaning users in Sudan can use their local phone numbers to verify their accounts as part of the security features available to most users around the world.
*If #TwitterPhoneVerificationSudan is not possible perhaps it can be explained why that is the case and if it is due to an issue on the Sudanese side to be resolved. Some say it is due to sanctions but if users in Iran can use their local phone numbers then so do users in Sudan
*We need @twitter to be more responsive to reports of fake accounts that impersonate government officials or public figures sometimes in the midst of public disasters (e.g. account impersonating governor of Khartoum during massive floods).
*This brings me to a crucial issue which is verifying Sudanese accounts of public interests. We understand that @twitter is proactively verifying accounts all around the world & has recently verified a significant batch of Sudanese accounts mainly govt accounts.
* However the pace of verification for Sudan appears to be lagging behind important events in the country (e.g. peace agreements w/ rebel groups, 2019 popular uprising). There have been numerous instances of fake accounts inciting racial or political tensions.
In this thread I will put Twitter users in Sudan that I believe are of public interest & deserves verification & will update regularly as needed.
We hope that @Twitter will act on these requests as Sudanese continue working towards a better future amid daunting challenges.
