Do you have questions about the Working Group's Recommendation for entry into the selective schools during the pandemic? We've got a primer for you! #SuspendTheTest #bospoli 1/9
An online entrance exam is simply not possible, nor is it offered by the NWEA, the maker of the MAP test. Instead, this plan is based on academic performance BEFORE the pandemic.

The proposed recommendation does NOT involve race quotas and intentionally increases neighborhood & socioeconomic access to the selective schools.
#SuspendTheTest #bospoli 3/9
The proposal is NOT a lottery as many have claimed – it's still a grade-based entry system for 20% and grade-based with zip codes for the other 80%.
#SuspendTheTest #bospoli 4/9
The recommendation helps to level the playing field for students who are socioeconomically disadvantaged and have typically been shut out of the exam school entry process – but have grades that show just as much potential as their wealthier peers.
#SuspendTheTest #bospoli 5/9
The rigor and reputation of the selective schools will NOT change – it will increase access for highly capable students across the city.
#SuspendTheTest #bospoli 6/9
The "exam" schools existed for decades (centuries, even!) without an exam. Nationwide, prestigious learning institutions are moving AWAY from standardized tests because they do not accurately predict success or potential.
#SuspendTheTest #bospoli 7/9
We are running out of time to implement this change – we need a long runway to identify eligible students and complete 10 rounds of entry based on zip codes. We cannot delay this process and still expect a smooth assignment system.

TODAY! Let the Boston School Committee, Mayor, and Boston City Council know that you support the Working Group Recommendation and that we CANNOT delay its passage and implementation.
