I don't have any compassion whatsoever for the terminal illness of a man who has literally made MILLIONS off of antagonizing the ill and disabled, helping to prevent the desperate from receiving aid and generally using his wealth and privilege to crush those without it.

I don't.

Nor do I have any particular measure of sympathy for anyone who benefited from their proximity to his toxicity.

Anyone who aided and abetted his harm or derided those he harmed for being insufficiently stoic...

I don't care about their pain.

Not my job.

Nor for a moment do I forget that S.E. Cupp' s whole career is as a front line defender for these conservative ideologies that have caused incalculable death and pain.

But since that death and pain wasn't of white conservatives, nobody needed to "Be better" about it.

The idea that you can separate politics from the person may fly if their politics isn't literally about causing as much pain and hardship as possible while gleefully mocking the harmed.

The idea that nobody deserves compassion IS Limbaugh's politics.

I'm so endlessly tired of being lectured about failing to show enough compassion for the hardships and trials of people who elevate cruelty to a virtue, by people who never demanded that the cruel be better.

Clean your own house.

It is unconscionable that showing respect for the struggles of the powerful is a universal moral duty, while respecting the struggles of those harmed by the powerful is a universal moral failing.

When S.E. Cupp starts demanding "better" for Black people who can't breathe, due to conservative Covid-19 policies, due to conservative pollution deregulation, due to conservative rejection of medical care to the poor, due to police...

Then we'll talk about bilateral compassion
