If you have signed for the #MurdochRoyalCommission can I tweet a couple of things you may or may not know. At this stage it’s a petition. Very very similar to all those chnge ones you see on Facebook. That is the extent of its weight. The petition is calling for a

Royal Commission into media ownership by Murdoch. It’s a really broad title at the moment, so you can sign up with no fear. Kevin Rudd, as much as you may admire him, no longer has any weight in parliament. It’s the same if I raised a petition. He’s just more famous.

The bullshit Its Ok To Be White motion brought by Pauline Hanson ages ago? Has more weight than this. She was a parliament member, party leader & afforded the courtesy of listening. Rudd has none of that.

It’s really really hard to get an RC stood up. They’re really expensive - you could comfortably estimate $100million for this one I’d say - they’re time consuming, and they only end with recommendations. ICACs are good because they’re reviewed & charges are brought.

They’re not going to charge Rupert with anything. I’m also pretty sure that Kevin probably didn’t spruik this too well with a sitting ALP Front Bencher. So they would be less inclined to support the petition. This is not a criticism; it’s an explanation of facts.

& start new tweet. There is a whole heap of metrics around “eyeballs” that jumps up when you retweet.
If your local newspaper was closed by Newscorp, keep a list of what you no longer get? Local jobs? Information for the older community. Whatever gap there is that Newscorp

This way, if the RC doesn’t get up? You’ve already made decisive action to loosen Murdoch’s stranglehold. We all need to do this so he doesn’t have the same power in 2022. I’ve probably overstepped boundaries,
