It’s amazing that I’ve traveled almost 2,000 miles in 24 hours, entirely on electric trains, most of them high-speed, through several huge mountains ranges. Before anyone starts with “but planes are cheaper” that’s because you pay with your taxpayer money to subsidise flights whether you like it or not. Some countries are starting to give taxpayer money to trains instead, and everyone everywhere should actively support this change.
Long distance trips with a bike _can_ be daunting at first, but with a little help it’s as easy as getting the bus home.
