I had last accessed the #Instagram app installed on my phone on 16th or 17th August (don't remember precisely), until I accidentally clicked a notification on 17th October.

My takeaways off these 2 months, a thread -
- Self control is better than forced restrictions. I could have uninstalled the app, if I would have decided to. But not using it (successfully for a certain period), in spite of having installed, was so much more satisfying.
- Social media, we don't need you. Apps like Instagram are not air and water, and you can live without them, quite comfortably and happily. If it is not adding any value to your life, it's not worth your time.
- Habits take time. I didn't decide to give up Instagram overnight. I first made small experiments with not using it for 1-2 days, in spite of the urge. Then extended it slowly to 1 week, and then became ready for infinite time period. Within a few days, I almost forgot about it.
Except for the notifications!
- Instagram will chase you. It will send you innovative and tempting notifications to make you open it. Just like any other tempting+harmful thing in your life. Learn to smile and ignore.

- Why, after all, did I choose to not open Instagram precisely, why not Twitter? Why not any other app?
Consistent consumption of visual content hampers ability of independent thought. This was a necessary check. Important and much needed lifestyle change.

- To leave or not to leave. I didn't completely left the social site. There are a few good things happening there, worth my 5 minutes in a week maybe? Yet to figure out. Journey is on.

An important mention while ending this thread. Got inspired by @pradologue for writing this one. I like the way he puts his thoughts.
In an ideal world, I wouldn't have had documented this one ever.
