My life in #lockdown. Yesterday a neighbour dropped off a two free chairs. She was shocked to find a woman and her teenage son in a house with nothing but an old single mattress. Escaping marital abuse, they had been in a woman’s shelter & were now in a Council house 1/
My neighbour put out a call on the local network for items and within the day she had a double bed, a single bed, bedding, towels, wardrobe, three piece suite, dining table and six chairs, fridge, kitchen equipment, dishes, fresh food, rugs, tables, lamps, throws & toiletries 2/
We donated a television, some bedding & an old x-box (as the boy had nothing but a few clothes). The neighbour had a van so yesterday & today they will be delivering and installing everything. The woman and her son were overwhelmed & overjoyed by the kindness of strangers 3/
The speed with which this all came together shows to me how kindness is fundamental to us, & the need to express this part of human nature. This is what Conservatives would have you believe no longer exists, but I for one feel a lot better today for a little act of kindness. End.
