If this No on Prop 22 sways the vote away from the wants of the workers after they put so much effort into having our voices heard during this election, that’ll be a curveball. Who is pushing so hard on this No on 22????
I understand there’s a potential for me to be way off base here but I’ve been supporting Yes on 22 and fighting for my rights to work as an independent contractor for awhile now I dk
I have questions
The misclassification if employees/independent contractors has also impacted the multi-level marketing industry recently in CA as companies had to shift, or ignore new legislation to do so. Restructuring like this can devastate a company.
I support workers rights and the right to work as an independent contractor is a choice. The fact that these companies take advantage and don’t pay fair wages is their shitty choice. Let the workers have freedom AND PAY THEM FOR THEIR WORK. It’s not hard. Get a grip.
That being said, before Instacart changed their wage pay scale I was making $800/week on average and even that was after they cut the pay from when people were averaging $1000/week working a full schedule. There were so many ways to maximize earnings for time worked.
When they changed the algorithm and batch availability and ratings, that dropped to less than half of that.
So, they know how to make it work and let their workers make money as independent contractors but they choose not to because of the bottom line. Get fucked, Apoorva Mehta.
