Well done to ⁦ @BBCRadioScot⁩ & ⁦ @BBCGaryR⁩ for the focus on carers at breaking point. Spot on Simon & team from ⁦⁦ @CarersScotland

Reduced services see unpaid carers in Scotland pushed to the limit - & desperately worried about winter https://www.carersuk.org/scotland/news/reduced-services-see-unpaid-carers-in-scotland-pushed-to-the-limit-and-desperately-worried-about-winter
As Simon says the costs of doing nothing are huge; our local carers centre no longer has capacity to arrange/deliver PPE, they must be overwhelmed with very broken carers just now.
There is not enough of a focus on or action at govt level to push for services to restart; an
additional covid top up to Carers Allowance will only help a very small number of us. Heating costs up, I’ve lost count of how much we’ve spent on delivery costs..we are preventing a massive tsunami of need overwhelming public services..but at a tremendous cost to ourselves and
our families. We need to see carer advisors working with govt to get things restarted, to shape the continued pandemic response. Once again, we call on @NicolaSturgeon and others to involve us at the very heart of covid planning..let’s work together to shape responses which
take account of unpaid care. Let’s do more together to provide some financial support to carers beyond those on CA..because honestly, we all need to get through this. We need investmentin and support for emergency planning in earnest. Carers centres need additional funds to
help carers in need.
But we need concerted effort to get support and respite services operating again. Before more carers break.
