Work- life balance (I prefer integrating)for young career women.
I have attend conferences/trainings for women at the workplace and most speakers/trainers when speaking of work- life balance they focus on how to raise kids, have a family and keep growing career-wise
This exclude a lot of young women who have entered the workforce and are still unmarried and without kids. It’s incorrect to assume that they don’t struggle with having a well rounded life as they grow their careers.
I would like to see more people start speaking to young women on how to live a meaningful life, how to be able to pursue your hobbies, stay healthy and fit, have a healthy social life, be part of your own community alongside career pursuits.
Work- life balance isn’t a one size fit all. As I said earlier I prefer work- life integration because balance is too limiting and unrealistic. For me it’s more about being able to make your work part of your life in a way that it doesn’t suck life out of you
If you are a young working woman reading this, i would encourage you to draw a circle of your life and what things you want to do including work and put a percent of what time you are putting in them now and be intentional about adjusting some to have more of the life you desire.
Climbing the career ladder takes work, dedication, time and so much more. However this shouldn’t stop you from taking that music class you wanted, take that trip with friends, go to your yoga or dancing classes, I mean who wants to be up there miserable🤷🏿‍♀️
The pressure can be too much but don’t forget to take a break and maybe go out to a date with that guy you really like, visit your favorite spots in town, read the books you wish to read. PS: don’t mind people always asking for your time and money saying ‘huna majukumu bado’
