On Oct.13, 1985, Habs Hit Man, Chris Nilan, butt ended Boston Bruins Captain, Rick Middelton, in the mouth. Nifty lost several teeth and Knuckles earned an 8 game ban. This incident set in motion a chain of events that intensified the Bruins-Habs rivalry. #LegendsInBlackAndWhite
I'm going to follow this thread of the Bruins-Habs rivalry for this season just to point out how much bad blood there used to be in these divisional rivalries in the '80's.
As a young Bruins fan, this is probably the first time I ever felt hate for another player. After this incident with Nifty-one of my favorite Bruins at the time-Nilan was public enemy No. 1.
