Visiting Maurice Bishop's deserted house on October 19th, 2020 a thread.
Almost every year I visit the site, after reading so many articles and stories about it. Visiting this historical site makes things come alive somewhat. The gate is in clear sight, you can't miss it on the way to the new Parliament Building, at Mt. Wheldale.
The foliage rips through the concrete, as if mother nature tries to unearth the events that occurred here several years ago. Funny enough, light glistened upon the foliage, however the building stood in a mysterious shadow.
As I drew closer, dodging the foliage, nature's clasp holds on the house even tighter. If these walls could talk...
If Walls could talk... As I arrive at the steps I imagine the stories that could be told about here. From the moment the Bishop's for moved in. To the exuberant cries of Grenadians who carried their Prime Minister out of House Arrest.
A file metal cabinet lurks in the distance... I wonder what may be inside? Unfortunately my curiosity was hampered due to the floor rotting thus being unstable. Also, the growing foliage has blocked access to it. Hopefully there can be access to more areas around this property.
For context. This is what the house looked like several years ago.
