best childhood friends taekook au where they both discover their sexuality with eachother. They've always been together so it isn't much of a surprise when their friends catch them kissing. What they do is just the barest brush of lips against each other, both too scared of the
eventual moment they have to pull back and face the idea that there's no going back to whatever they were before. It's easier to lose themselves in the inexperienced slide of tongues and shared breaths. Its easier to fall because even though they're scared of the heights, they
know they'll always catch eachother.

Jungkook's mouth is sweet like his vanilla coke and the only thing Taehyung can think about is how he's never done this before. Why did he wait till a cold November night to first taste his best friend when he's been looking at his lips
forever? Why did it take an off handed comment from Jin to set Taehyung's world on fire?

Why is Jungkook simultaneously still /Jungkook/ but also so much more? Some undefined entity that resides in the beginning of each of Taehyung's thoughts and lays its head beside his when
the night becomes too dark.

He's not scared, but definitely nervous. Fingers too cold to feel pain from where they're clenched around the back porch railing of the diner. Hes used to being the warm one, always the victim of Jungkook's cold feet wriggling at the small of his
back in the blistery, winter months but he's so cold right now. The only heat in the world lies in the parts of his skin that touches Jungkook's.

When they finally pull back, a glistening string of saliva connects them for a moment and Taehyung wishes he could close his eyes
if only to delay whatever look Jungkook will wear when he opens his but he can't. Some beautiful things were born to be observed and the look of Jungkook's kiss-bitten lips and cherry cheeks is one of them, Taehyung decides.

His breath leaves him in one exhale, smoke from his
chest mingling with Jungkook's in a plume of white.

His bunny's eyes flutter open and then they're locking eyes, two entirely different people from all the years before.

But also not. Because Jungkook's eyes still hold galaxies and they're still able to see the best in him.
Even now.

"So," Jungkook says, looking away from Taehyung and out towards where their friends are indulging in teen mayhem.
Smashing bottles and sharing cigarettes between chapped lips and other things that won't catch up to them for years.

Taehyung says nothing but he finds
he doesn't have to when Jungkook's hand worms its way into his, gently prying dead fingers off the frigid railing.

It's November but he's so warm, he finds he doesn't quite care when the snow begins to fall.

"That was cool." Jungkook whispers, words lost in the breeze to
everyone but Taehyung.

"Yeah. Really cool."

It was a lot more than that but he doesn't have a way with words like Namjoon. He can't write essays on how soft his best friend's lips were or how the taste of him changed his life forever so he just squeezes Jungkook's hand and
hopes he understands.

Jungkook smiles in his peripheral and Taehyung sighs in relief. Whatever they'll he moving forward, they'll be together.
