Thread: It's interesting (and a bit sad) that when I post a critique of the Republican Party on Facebook, my evangelical friends always want to talk about the Democrats instead. It's like there's no room to even acknowledge the Republican Party's (many) failings. (1/6)
Today someone asked whether I think evangelicals should cozy up with Democrats, and by the way, don't I know that Democrats want to limit free speech and shut down churches? My response: . . . (2/6)
I don't think evangelicals should cozy up with either party. Neither party represents Christ, not even close. If we do more closely align with one party, we need to be willing to speak truth about that party, not simply toe the party line. Evangelicals' failure to do so... (3/6)
with the Republican Party has greatly diminished the reputation of the evangelical church. And if you're never willing to cross the line to vote for someone else, they own your vote and have no reason to get better. (4/6)
Finally, to say that the Democrats want to "limit free speech and shut down churches" is an appeal to fear, not faith. Not to mention that there's no evidence for it. It's the kind of thing politicians say to manipulate voters. (5/6)
It's almost like the evangelical church is in denial and can't even see the need to repent and follow Christ over party. God help us. (6/6)
