I'm listening to the You're Wrong About episode on the "obesity epidemic." I've always had some pudge but never been "fat enough" to get fat shamed AND I've known for years that it's bullshit but my weight loss from (probably) having COVID in March has really changed my worldview
Me: I think I might have this deadly, unknown disease

Them: Oh no

Me: I'm just so tired all the time

Them: That sucks

Me: My chest feels like I inhaled sandpaper

Them: Jesus

Me: I've lost 10 lbs. in two weeks despite eating 3,000 calories a day

Them: I'm so happy for you
I will never, for as long as I live, forget just how many people said it ruled that I was constantly shoveling food into my face while losing 5 lbs A WEEK and was worried I had a disease they wouldn't test me for that may have been fatal.
(I probably should have CW this thread for food / weight. Damn.)

It is astounding to me that we, as a culture, can look at 5 lbs/week loss and go "yeah buddy good for you" instead of "JESUS CHRIST BODIES SHOULD NOT DO THAT." A body has to be going through SERIOUS SHIT for that.
It was terrifying and *I* was terrified and confused and meanwhile tons of people were like "hell yeah summer bodddddd."

Fuck that and fuck them and fuck everything send tweet.
