My 2020 slogan: Bring back nuance, compassion, decency, and trust in science.
Note: If you see the above aspolitical, or feel that visceral reaction in your body where you want to tweet back "Ya, but...!", do your best to pause. Take a moment.

Step away from social media, news, politics for a while. Your "alarm" is hypervigilant and you need to retrain it
To clarify: Trust in science means letting the process play out.

When you hear "listen to scientists", it really means, let science play out. Where scientists argue/debate in peer-reviewed data-driven venues.
So many people get this wrong. Science isn't one person, or one view. It's a process to get at figuring out the best path.

It's not saying trust Dr. Fauci or an individual, it's saying trust the process.
But...what about the other scientists who disagree with said position? They have a voice! They publish in the same journals, with data for everyone to see. No one is ignoring them.
Take The Great Barrington "herd immunity" thing. That's political theater. That's not science. It's politicals and PR dressed up as 'science' with a select few from name institutions.

If the scientists had a strong case, they'd make it in the journals, present data, etc.
Some scientists have made counter cases when it comes to COVID, like John Ionnadis. His recent journal article made a similar case. But the data has widely been torn apart by experts in the field.
So it's not that they don't have a voice, it's that they haven't made a compelling case based on the data!

And that's the thing about science. If you let it play out, we'll take some wrong turns occasionally, but it's the best way we have at arriving at the right path.
In conclusion, let science do its thing. When you play political theater, we all lose.

Science is a process. Trust science means trust the process.
