rewatching 5a & i wanted to go into detail on my thoughts about lucifers invulnerability / "i love you"

I don't think Lucifer stopped being vulnerable because he was pushing Chloe out. That scene on the balcony you need to take into context the whole episode & the scenes prior

When lucifer was completely immobilised he had to sit there, completely 'useless' (a word lucifer has used to describe himself a few times) as the woman he loves is in danger. I think this started to make Lucifer realise above all else he has to protect her.

Coincidence that few scenes later he is invulnerable again? I think not. Does that mean he has put his walls back up? On the contrary, he let them even more down. He is now so much more emotionally vulnerable with Chloe that he doesn't need to be physically vulnerable around her

There is also something Pete said in 5x07 that resonated with Lucifer which was that letting someone in was empowering and i think that was the another ingredient for his newfound invulnerabilty. lucifer has let her in emotionally now and that empowers him physically.

In 2x12 when they where together lucifer himself said it made him feel "invincible".Angels self actualise and in recent interview with the showrunners they said that their physical changes are actually their bodies telling/revealing something their minds havent comprehended yet.

When Lucifer became vulnerable, he was very emotionally stunted,the only way he could process wanting to be vulnerable was physically. Over the seasons he has grown & now has reached a stage he can let her in emotionally& therefore doesnt need to be physically vulnerable anymore.

Lucifer has come too far to shut chloe out & put all his walls back up. Its just now that his mind has finally caught up to what his body has been telling him for the past 5 seasons & now it knows, the body doesnt need to showcase it and can now protect the one he loves the most

As for lucifer saying i love you being "complicated" but "of course he does" that will be something explored in 5b but its blindingly obvious. Perhaps he has never said it to anyone before& it scares him? Perhaps the last person he said it to was dad & look how that turned out.

His dad coming down is going to push lucifer through his last hurdle and once he does i think that is when he will be comfortable saying i love you.
you have to remember lucifer isnt a ordinary human, he is a ancient celestial that has been through incredible emotional trauma.

He is so in love with her & he shows that through his actions, saying it is incredibly hard for him for some reason & i cant wait to find out why. Does this mean deckerstar are going to be in a bad place? Not at all, sure it will be another obstacle but they will face it together

Their relationship wont regress. I think chloe will understand why lucifer is the way he is now that god is here (especially after the family dinner).That i love you is 100% coming and its going to be a painful journey for lucifer to get to it but he will.
