a thread of why the tipi and dream catcher necklace used in the new loona comeback concept is disrespectful
first lets about tipis ( or teepee) it is a type of dwelling that is culturally significant to Great Plains Native Americans. They are used for ceremonial practices, cultural gatherings, and have symbolic meaning to indigenous people.
using them as an aesthetic or set prop, which has been done for the comeback stage is just disrespectful to many indigenous groups and shouldn’t be used as decoration. so much was taken from us, which leads me to the dreamcatcher
dreamcatchers are significant to the ojibwe people which many live in poverty today because of how much was stolen from us, and so many sell them as a way of living and spreading history, but they are never sold as accessories
they hold so much meaning to us. we weren’t allowed to practice it for so long because of the laws and for companies to profit off of what my ancestors were killed for using is just not good at all. the necklace is a clear representation of it.
this happens so often yet NOTHING is done, almost every month ca against indigenous people is called out. please email and please spread awareness of this. and before other natives say they aren’t offended, realize we are not monolithic. we all feel differently, and they matter.
please spread this. please speak up about this, we are silenced enough
