Newcastle Utd 1 - 4 Man Utd. Tactics. #MUFC
#mufc build up in 2422/3232 patterns on ball. #NEW pressed United in a 141 midblock. When United progressed the ball in 3232, NEW fell back into the 451 fall into their defensive Shape.
#MUFC stretching #NEW using their 3232. This is a perfect shape in stretching. + #NEW never kept their shape properly. If #MUFC's tempo was a bit higher, #MUFC could have had even more chances.
#mufc in the final third took the 235 shape asymmetrically and at certain moments symmetrically as this can't be maintained all the time.
#NEW had a hard time keeping their midfield shape, which led to a lot of openings, partly due to Mata and Bruno's movements.
#mufc in the final third took the 235 shape asymmetrically but this time Shaw is further up and AWB is withdrawn - asymmetric width. If Bruno moves wide for flanks overload, Mata stays central and vice versa.
#mufc in their normal defensive shape 442. The thing to look out for is who is on the wings. Pogba kept away from the wings as he failed to track his runners last time vs Spurs. Pogba left CM and Bruno LWB and Scott/VdB RWB
Tactic:

Rashford/James dropped into the half space to drag the CB. This creates a space for either of them to run into that space. + The width-drawn position Fred & Scott took in the initial buildup help kept space between both banks of 4.
AWB:

He effectively played RW in this game. + tasked to man mark Saint-Maximin. His movement forward pushed Saint-maximin to be further back. He distributed the ball much better in this game and pick out a couple of good cut back passes. #MUFC
Fluidity:

Framework, Principles, and Intent are what defines a manager. The fluidity of the front 4 - no matter who they are - is a fundamental principle under Ole, which I truly love. You can't pin point any of the front 4 to position (ignore the paper sometimes)
Loss of Width:

When VdB, Pogba, Mata, and Bruno were all on the field, #mufc lost width considerably. To compensate for that, the FBs had to push even further at the same time to maintain the width. This leave United open on the counter more and congests central play.
#MUFC were not struggling to create before the subs. They just were not finishing. Before the first sub we had 22 shots & 11 on target. We created 20 chances. After them the subs, the match ended with 28 shots, and 14 OnT w/ 23 chances created. After the subs, we just finished.
Goal conceded. It was a wild deflection but there was still a couple of mistakes committed that led up to that deflection. Read the notes please. #MUFC
The use of Scott as a RCB. It makes him more control on the ball and can find better passes. It provided him better angles with Mata and Bruno's movements. Watch below. #MUFC
#MUFC had a 22-pass sequence over a 50-second window before AWB's goal vs Newcastle Utd. Here's the entire sequence. (16 passes were <= 2 touches)
End. #MUFC
