i’m about to make a thread of everything i hate about leftwt bc some y’all really lose your minds when you log onto https://twitter.com  and it’s truly... it’s blowing me...
before i start i hope y’all on the right know this doesn’t mean i agree with you. y’all have the same problems it’s just usually less hypocritical. i don’t believe in capitalism and i believe neoliberalism is the downfall of our society. moving on.
call me a lib if u want lol but these are all observable phenomena. you should be able to critique the things you are apart of.
i. the lack of willingness to educate

people see one opinion u don’t agree with and instantly call someone (usually who is like 10 years younger than you) an idiot. freedom of speech is real, but people will unironically tell someone misunderstanding a concept...
i.

to just move away from a label rather than explaining it.
ii. the gatekeeping of labels

i think that radicalism is valid and not something that applies to everyone. however, trying to avoid being nationalistic, a lot of us forget that outside of twitter the vast majority of the population still thinks communism = starvation...
ii.

and if leftism is the anticapitalist goal of improving class consciousness, yes i think those who am to do that shouldn’t instantly be called “capitalist loving libs” because their opinion differs from yours.
iii. literal pedophilia

yeah i don’t think i need to go on about this one... but if you view the age of consent as a “social construct” that “means nothing” please don’t interact with a minor ever again.
iv. racism

genuinely think that i don’t need to elaborate on this either... just so much of it. denying that any racism is negated by being caused by capitalism is a harmful construct. not listening to bipoc people about their own issues, etc.
v. sympathizing with genocide and dictatorship governments that oppress their people

stop romanticizing a life you’ve never lived. you can simultaneously agree that much of what you’re learned about a country was propaganda and still value the fact...
v.

that people flee these countries for more reasons than just being the bourgeoise.
vi. homophobia and transphobia

it exists on the left! i’m not lgbtq+ so it isnt my place to speak on it, but the whole point of this thread is that being a leftist doesn’t automatically make you a good person. one example i saw was someone...
... responding to a poll declaring that anyone who voted they’d rather live in a neolib society w/ established human rights over a ML society without them wasn’t a real leftist... but that’s the very problem of class reductionism. nothing stops communists from being racist.
vii. anti-semitism

not jewish not my place to speak on it, but it’s... very much a problem. stop perpetuating anti semitic propaganda in the name of anti capitalism.
iix. black & white mentality

this is a antithesis of a lot of leftist aligned ideology which is why i find it hypocritical. i know you can counter this saying that’s what i’ve been doing throughout this entire thread, but hear me out:
iix.

every single ideology is flawed. every political figure is flawed. there is often no perfect answer and everyone’s experience often differs their perception. that’s something not acknowledged on the left. basically ever.
ix. the one that’s going to get me cancelled

i know we all have our problems with voting, but pretending that biden = trump is harmful. yes they’re both neoliberals who will only further capitalism, but people will lose their healthcare under trump that won’t do so...
ix.

under biden. trump perpetuates hatred and tells white supremacists to stand by. i understand neither does anything in furthering a leftist agenda, but do not condemn anyone advocating for voting for him as a liberal. it’s your choice who to vote for. it’s my freedom...
ix.

to explain why i want you to do so.
x. “read theory” as an argument

correlates heavy w the first one. not saying reading theory is a bad thing or that it’s even not necessary- it often is. but genuinely i don’t understand how in a community almost 100% about building class consciousness we refuse to...
x.

...build class consciousness. the manifesto was a pamphlet and now the world runs on mobile phones. if you want to reach out to the proletariat you aim to liberate, do not lock your knowledge behind inaccessible text. the revolution of this lifetime cannot be that...
x.

of the prior. things will change and thus we do adapt or agenda to the benefit of the proletariat. your analysis is as better than mine if you read the entire book written in the 1800s and i read a summary.... yet it doesn’t negate what i learned. it means there is more to,
x.

but when is there not? all of this is to say if you can’t explain a concept that you’ve done reading for nothing.
xi. being completely anti revisionism because it isn’t a revolution

no i get you, revision isn’t sustainable. i dont believe in reform for a broken system because it only allows that system to carry on for longer. however, i also dont believe in unnecessary suffering...
x.

because we choose to be purists. if we can make things better temporarily before they are abolished, why should we not do so...? it shouldn’t be our goal, but if we are unlikely to see revolution in our lifetime, then it should help to not condone things being worse.
