Not a good weekend for Corinne Diacre. She tested positive for Covid and will miss the France national team camp that starts today. On the other hand, this spares her from some uncomfortable reunions with certain Lyon players who have been vocal about her decision to drop Henry.
Amel Majri called the decision “incomprehensible” and “incoherent.”
Delphine Cascarino called it a “total surprise.”
Wendie Renard said the atmosphere in French National Team is “not good” and “can’t continue.”

Comments from former OL coach Reynald Pedros have also gotten a lot of attention. He said he saw that players went to France team duty “out of obligation, not pleasure” and that they returned to the Club “psychologically affected.”
The timeline looks bad for Diacre. Last Tuesday, reports came out saying her contract had been secretly extended. That same day, Lyon players pulled FFF president Noël Le Graët aside to air their concerns about Diacre. Diacre called Henry the next day to tell her she was out.
If Diacre thought dropping Henry would scare the Lyon players into silence about how unhappy they are, it’s hard to imagine a strategy backfiring more spectacularly.
Meanwhile, if Diacre hoped the players she did select would at least do her some favors in their weekend games, she didn’t get her wish.
Neither Clemaron nor Jean-François saw any playing time for Everton or Paris FC. Bilbaut looked out of sorts in the 20 or so minutes she appeared off the bench in a shocking loss for Bordeaux. Torrent and Estelle Cascarino were both sent off in their respective games.
