Thread -Dolores Cahill

I've been seeing this person used a lot as an argument for validity of the far right view that the pandemic is fake, overstated, and is a ploy to subjugate us as a race of people across the globe.

Ok. What the "esteemed" professor is qualified for?
She has the following qualifications:

1. A BA in molecular genetics
2. PhD in Immunology
3. Currently Professor of Translational Science at UCD school of medicine.

So lets take them in order...

Molecular genetics is a discipline concerned with the structure and function of
genes at the molecular level, and by extension genetic engineering.

At no point in any paper that the Professor has published, or an academic conference or event she has been a speaker at, has she been introduced as an expert in any study of virus transmission.

2. Her PhD is
in Immunology, and specifically her thesis was written on production, characterisation and application of monoclonal antibodies, and antibody-based conjugates at DCU. Again, very much towards genetic engineering in the field of oncology, and nothing to do with virus transmission.
3. Translational science is the process of turning scientific observations into medical interventions or treatments. Going from the lab testing on mice to drug or therapy production for use on humans.

Again, no mention of any expertise in epidemiology or virus transmission.
What is curious is that the professor has formed commercial enterprises outside of Ireland, and holds many patents, at various stages involving these fields. But no mention of any commercial endeavours into virus transmission or epidemiology.

Theres a reason for that...
She is not an expert on virus transmission, as she does not have the credibility, nor experience to do so.

So let's take a look at what her company in Germany does, and indeed, what her patents are for...

Firstly, her company is
domiciled in Germany - Protagen Gbr founded in 1997 as a spin out from Rhur University as a protein analysis company.

In 1999 they expand into Proteomic Services. In 2005 they release a testing concept for a tumour vaccine. In the same year they go through series A financing.
In 2018 they celebrated their 100th employee. 2019 they merge with Bioanalytix Inc. as a global contract research org.

But nowhere in their company bio does it mention expertise in virus transmission or epidemiology, nor is the professor noted as involved after 2003. But is a
shareholder according to publicly available records.

Now let's look at her memberships of groups and committees...a lot of the far right and conspiracy theory supporters who write about her seem to leave out the end dates of her involvement in certain groups, boards, and
committees. In their eyes she seems to be a member in perpetuity. This is not the case.

She was a member of the governments Advisory Science Council 2003 until 2014

She was a seconded national expert to the European Commission for Research and Innovation Directorate in Brussels
for one year in 2013.

The Biotechnology and Biological Services Research Council in the UK make no mention of her at all on their website, despite her claims to be working with them.

Vinnova, Sweden's innovation agency, has no mention of her at all on their website.
All of these orgs, and bodies make no mention of her or any contribution she has made.

Nor do they talk of any interest, historically or presently, in virus transmission or epidemiology.

Yet she continues to "debunk the narrative" with lies, factually incorrect statements, and
downright dangerous claims such as people who recover are immune for life after 10 days, taking vitamins could have prevented further deaths, people with cystic fibrosis could freely engage in society during the pandemic after spending weeks building up their immune systems.
She believes that vaccinations are being forced upon people. Funny though I don't remember any precedence in law that states you HAVE to accept vaccinations.

And maybe that's why she was asked to resign as Vice Chair of the IMI scientific committee this year.

It's quite sad
that a clearly academically capable person has taken a dive into a far right, white supremacist, conspiracy theory rabbit hole without using the one tool she has utilised all of her career...cognitive thought.

What is clear though is she is no expert on any particular virus,
nevermind Covid 19, she is no authority on epidemiology or virus transmission, and is being used as a validatary argument by people who don't understand what she is, and is clearly not.

Just because someone has a degree and a PhD does not mean you automatically believe every
word out of their mouth.

This woman is chairperson of a political party that is ethonationalist and pro-Brexit, an ex-Farage employed founder, whose employer has proven connections to Cambridge Analytica and Steve Bannon.

They spent in excess of €40k in
2019 on advertising for EU elections from a party that is against the EU. Where did that money come from?

They refused to answer when questioned on this despite clear SIPO rules.

So you tell me...who would you believe?

I dont seek validation of my arguments. I look for facts.
