Since the start of the #coronavirus pandemic, deaths in private home have remained mostly above the five-year average.

Between 28 December 2019 and 11 September 2020 in England, there were:

▪️ 25,472 more deaths than the five-year average

For the same period in Wales, there were:

▪️ 7,440 deaths registered
▪️ 1,624 deaths more deaths than the five-year average

Excess deaths in private homes in England and Wales were mostly due to deaths not involving #COVID19 http://ow.ly/2sUP50BVYTk 
Deaths from the leading causes were above the five-year average in private homes and care homes.

Meanwhile deaths from these causes in hospitals and hospices were lower http://ow.ly/Bj7C50BVZ2U 
The leading cause of death for males was Ischaemic Heart Disease, and in private homes the number was 25.9% above the five-year average in England.

However in hospitals these deaths were 22.4% lower than the five-year average http://ow.ly/F30l50BVZd8 
Male deaths from Ischaemic Heart Disease in private homes in Wales were also 22.7% above the five-year average.

However in hospitals these were 29.3% lower compared with the five-year average http://ow.ly/DJBu50BVZoF 
Female deaths from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease in private homes were 75.0% above the five-year average in England.

This number was

▪️ 40.6% lower in hospitals
▪️ 32.0% higher in care homes

In Wales, female deaths from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease in private homes were 92.2% above the five-year average.

These deaths were
