Welcome to the TEA SHOP!

Grab a drink and lets get comfortable. This thread is long over due.

We will be talking about the misuse of the words FEMINISM AND MISOGYNY
Before we start, as someone who was a GP before I became a btspopper, I had already written about feminism in the workplace. I was appalled by the misuse of this term. I came to many realizations as I spent time on this app I think its time someone said something
Firstly, lets define the two terms- Feminism and Misogyny. According to Merriam- Webster

Feminism-

1: the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes
2: organized activity on behalf of women's rights and interests
Misogyny-

1: hatred of, aversion to, or prejudice against women

I can assure kpoppies that Army do not look at the success or failure of your girl groups based on misogynistic values , but rather an actual feministic POV.
What's even more troubling is kpop stans will paint all of ARMY as men who are supporting other men when that could be far from the truth. Most are women who support other women but just don't vibe with your faves. That's a matter of taste not gender.
Just to make a point, most ARMY support other women who are industry leaders. We have ARMY who support ChloexHalle, Beyoncé, Nicki, Rihanna, Adele, TS, Ariana etc. Are those artists not female just because we support BTS? NO! In fact they show us that females can be the standard.
This conversation of Men vs Women is actually misplaced in the Kpop realm as it factors around people letting women do what the stans perceive as acceptable whilst holding men to a stricter standard. That's not feminism. Feminism looks for the equality between the sexes
If you a man can do something, then so should women. The same truth should be true for men. Some people will argue that men have had it easier and its true. But in the true view of feminism, men shouldn't be penalized for being men but rather their contributions should be weighed
the same. Ahhh now, I'm going to lose GG stans as they didn't take this view into account. They thought that women should be given free passes BECAUSE they are women but that is not feminism.
Now here comes the misuse of the terms. Kpop uses terms that millions of women have marched and been persecuted for for petty fanwars. Shame on them for doing this! They use it when

-Advantageous
-Convenient
-Weaponization
Advantageous

GG stans use F and M when they want to guilt trip people into supporting their faves. They completely ignore the fact that most people are here for the art and music and use the fact that their faves are women to get people to check out their faves,
Convenient

GG stans forget all about feminism and misogyny when they attack other women. They will happily attack other GG because they are not their faves or because they are direct competition . That's not feminism. The terms only apply when its their faves.
Weaponization

GG stans have weaponized F and M to deflect against criticism. They will use these terms when they want their faves to let off the hook or after they the fans started something messy and don't want retaliation. That's actually unfair
If we are going to hold men to one standard, we should women to the same. That means the parameters of success are the same. Just because they are women shouldn't be babied. Let all things be equal.
Also the argument of feminism in kpop falls flat as most of the GG themselves are not free of male rule. Their concepts, sound, activity etc. are created by MEN. So rather than fight BG stans spend most of your time fighting their agencies for equality ++
Because I support BTS doesn't mean I HAVE to support your GG. Rather than spending most of your day fighting me for supporting Bangtan, redirect that energy for your faves and get them the same level of freedom as their male counterparts. That's feminism.
